INTRODUCTION:
– Paul is exhorting believers to present their bodies as “living sacrifices,” meaning to dedicate their entire being to God as a spiritual act of worship in response to His mercy.
-This “living sacrifice” is a complete and voluntary offering, contrasting with the Old Testament practice of animal sacrifice.
-This act is not passive but is an active, ongoing choice to live for God, rooted in a transformed mind that can discern His will as explained in verse 2.
This verse encourages;
1. SPIRITUAL WORSHIP.
-This act of offering your whole life is described as your “spiritual worship”. True worship is not just about singing or attending church but about the daily obedient living out of your faith.
2. VOLUNTARY OFFERING
-Christians are not slaves to sin anymore: They are free to choose to belong to God. This exhortation is a plea to your will to present your body, not the other way round.
