INTRODUCTION: The Bible describes three classes of men: Natural man, Spiritual man, and Carnal man.

1. NATURAL MAN (DIOTREPHES TYPE)
– These are those who are unchanged spiritually.

THERE CHARACTERS ARE AS FOLLLOWS
(i) They are unable to understand things of God 1 Corinthians 2:14

(ii) The things of the Spirit are foolishness to them 1 Corinthians 1:18-23

(iii) They depend on human philosophy 1 Corinthians 1:22

(iv) They are changed through circumstantial evidence (Eg Paul)

(v) They oppose everything spiritual 3 John 1:9-10

2. CARNAL MAN (CEAIUS TYPE)
-These are bad Christians.

CHARACTERS OF CARNAL MAN
(i) They are milk drinkers. 1PETER 2:1-3, 1 Corinthians 3:2

(ii) They yield tribal issues. (1 Corinthians 3:3-4)

–They are governed by flesh. Romans 8:6-8

– Prioritizes flesh over doing God’s will

– Proves divisive character 1 Corinthians 1:10-11

– Resist the lead of the Holy Spirit Galatians 5:16-17

(iii) Their spirituality revolves around personalities.

(iv) They have no spiritual stand.

(v) If they desire milk, they will grow spiritually, and they will be able to eat solid food Hebrews 5:12

3. SPIRITUAL MAN (DEMETNUS TYPE)
-These can understand the deep truth of God.

CHARACTER OF A SPIRITUAL MAN
Able to understand the deep truth of God. 1 Corinthians 2:10

(i) Their spirituality depends upon the holy spirit.

(ii) They are limited in their understanding. 1 Corinthians 2:12-16

(iii) They have a spiritual stand. Ephesians 2:12-14

(iv) They can distinguish good from evil. Hebrews 5:14

CONCLUSION
-If you are a Natural man, don’t wait to be changed by circumstantial evidence; desire to change.

-If you are Carnal, desire pure spiritual milk to grow.

-If you are Spiritual, keep your spiritual burning.
