Introduction: God has two wills.

1. God’s concealed will, which refers to His sovereign, hidden plans and decrees. It is known only to God

2. God’s revealed will, which refers to His commands and moral instructions made known to humanity, mostly through Scripture. It is made known to us.

V 10b. This verse is part of the Lord’s Prayer, a foundational prayer in Christianity. It highlights the desire for God’s will to be fully realized on earth, just as it is in heaven, indicating a desire for alignment with God’s perfect plan of salvation and Redemption

Your will be done” is a recognition that God has a plan and purpose for the world, and a desire for that plan to be fulfilled. It’s a prayer for God’s will to be obeyed and for His intentions to be accomplished in all things.

“On earth as it is in heaven”:
This emphasizes the ideal state where God’s will is perfectly carried out, just as it is in heaven. It’s a prayer for the earthly realm to reflect the perfection and harmony of the heavenly realm.

Romans 14:17 . For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

KINDGOMS ASSUMPTIONS
1. It is apparently not possible for God’s Will to be done. eg Jesus’ Prayer in Gethsemane:

In Luke 22:42, Jesus prays, “Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.” This highlights the tension between human desire and divine will, but importantly, Jesus chooses to submit to the Father’s will.

Note that we are not powerful enough to prevent God’s Will from being accomplished.

2. It is God’s Will that we experience a little bit of Heaven here on earth. Romans 14: 17. Ie cultivating peace, living righteously and being joyful kwa kutosheka na kile uko nacho.

3. God’s Kingdom culture is so radically different from the Worldly culture: Romans 12:2, the pattern of this world is different from the pattern of heaven.

Eg Mathew 5: 42-43. It’s written. Love your neighbour and hate your enemy, but I tell you, love your enemy and pray for those who persecute you. Leviticus 19:17-18 Don’t hate your neighbor, do not seek revenge

Prov 24:17-18 Do not gloat when the enemy stumbles, because there is a God factor in the whole thing

You don’t want anything good to happen to your enemies, but God does

If you disagree with someone’s lifestyle, you must fear or hate them
“If you love someone, you must agree with everything they believe . ( Both are nonsense; you don’t have to compromise convictions to be compassionate”( sio lazima tuelewane ki imani ili nionekane mwenye huruma). We must discover the power of Love, the redemptive power of love

Note that when you hate your enemy, you can’t redeem and transform them..

4. In our culture, only The ACTIONS matter. In the Kingdom culture, even INTENTIONS matter

Mathew 5:21-22 The phrase “It is written” in the Bible mostly introduces a quotation from the Old Testament scriptures, used by Jesus and others to support a point or to respond to a challenge

The phrase “you have heard it said” introduces a common saying, proverb, or piece of advice, often implying that it’s something widely known or believed, so it is used to counter the current world

2. How am I acting on my anger?

Unrighteous anger seeks to destroy other people, e.g., Cain’s anger towards his brother Abel, leading to murder.

Righteous seek to protect, e.g., Jesus in the temple

In 2 peter 2: 22-23, we can see Jesus insulted, but kept quiet. We can learn from Him

5. In our culture, everybody is trying to get a better place, but in the Kingdom culture, we are trying to make our current place better. i.e We are busy on weekends, doing all sorts of things in our culture; we are busy building our heaven on earth.

CONCLUSION.

Do what you can do, but do it for love.

In Chartlon 2015, 9 members of the same family were murdered, and the murderers were taken to court to face the verdict. The family of the murdered persons stood in court and said, “We forgive you. We hold nothing against you.” Everyone was amazed by their response, but that’s the culture of the kingdom. By doing this, we have a chance of bringing heaven on earth.
